Presenting LA FRESH M1NT with International DJ YUKSEK
Electro music has been gaining more and more popularity around the world, including Hong Kong. M1NT is introducing a new concept based around French electro. On the First Thursday of every month M1NT will present new up and coming electro DJ’s from around the world.
To kick start the launch of this new concept M1NT will be presenting DJ YUKSEK fresh from his recent album debut.
At the age of 17, the French-born Yuksek (Pierre-Alexandre Busson) started on the road to the superstar DJ/producer he is today. After spending years learning and teaching piano, Yuksek discovered electronic music and started to adapt his innate musical intuition to the genre. Inspired by a broad range of styles from an early age – from The Beatles and David Bowie, to the west coast rap of NWA and De La Soul, and the grunge of Nirvana’s Smells Like Teen Spirit – Yuksek uses this enormous musical vocabulary to craft some of the most innovative and unique dance tunes go around today.
With such a wide range of influences, Yuksek’s music defies categorisation. Drawing on electro, indie, house, disco, Yuksek creates a cohesive mix including pop hooks with dancefloor devastation, post-punk riffs and acid loops, disco grooves, experimental arabesque flourishes, house beats and catchy melodies, which all mix flawlessly with elements as varied as The Pixies, Scissor Sisters and Daft Punk. The secret to Yuksek’s success is his intangible instinct for his unique sound.
As a producer, his debut album Away from the Sea, which was released earlier this year, cemented Yuksek as one of the up and coming stars in the dance music scene. Indeed, his talents have not gone unnoticed by some of the biggest names in music either, with household outfits such as Phoenix, Mika, Kaiser Chiefs, and Ghostface Killah all calling on his considerable ability to infuse their hits with his trademark, dirty electro remixing style.
But it’s perhaps as a live performance that Yuksek is most impressive. On stage, he swoons between his several vintage keyboards, FX boards and other sound systems to create what sums up Yuksek best: infectious, thumping dancefloor hits that will send any club hysterical.
