SilverBlack card and Solas

So I had to work here for the Ministry of SOund event, and realized that my SILVERBLACK card allowed me to have happy hour prices for my drinks on Sunday and Monday nights (which, I used to my full advantage) and a 10% discount on other nights. This is the place to be, with this card, before tripping off to D-I.

Solas (www.solas.com.hk), in association with DJ Nipper Productions (www.djnipper.com), will launch its new DJ Sessions series of events on 8th May 2008 with Peter Hook, ex-member of the bands New Order and Joy Division, from Manchester, UK. Peter will be in Hong Kong as part of an Asian tour. He has just written a book about his career in the music business, which will be published in conjunction with a Hacienda Classics album on the Ministry of Sound Label in the summer plus a Hacienda world tour. Over the coming months, DJ Sessions will be featuring a host of eclectic DJs from some of the world?s most famous bands.
Manchester?s Hacienda night-club was instrumental in bringing dance music to the UK while its owner, entrepreneur Tony Wilson, brought us other big names such as the Happy Mondays and Mike Pickering on the Factory Records label in addition to New Order.
When Peter Hook and his fellow New Order cohorts released ?Blue Monday? in 1983, disco was very much a dirty word. This brave step into uncharted musical territory was to prove a source of huge inspiration to dance music producers throughout the late 80?s and 90?s, and New Order are regarded as musical pioneers by many of today?s leading lights.
As bass player of New Order, Peter Hook was heavily involved in the development of this brave new sound. And, with over two decades of quality music tucked into his record box, Peter Hook is taking his place behind the decks for a DJ set not to be missed.
His style is essentially a mash up of tracks which defined a musical generation, where the genres of indie and dance were fused together and where boundaries were broken. Featuring tunes present to the Hacienda / Manchester revolution, some New Order classics / exclusive remixes, and, as you may expect from a man of Pete?s musical calibre, plenty of upfront material to boot.
When one of the pioneers of dance music offers their own personal insight into the music which defined and styled a generation, you quite simply have to sit up and take notice.

Entry to the event will be by ticket only (available in advance from Solas for HK$250 or HK$300 on the door) and the music will kick-off at 10pm with ex-Hacienda DJ Nipper supporting Peter?s musical genius. Solas is located at 60 Wyndham Street, Central on the lower ground floor of The Centrium building.
