@ Yumla, 24th June
Would like to add that this is free entry, but you MUST to be a member to get in (i.e: drink loads down at the bar over the next month so the doorman will recognise you on the 24th ... simple as that).

So whats the point of advertising since this is a members only event, well in theory you could have over-subscribed your memberlist.
(i.e: drink loads down at the bar over the next month so the doorman will recognise you on the 24th ... simple as that).
How would that work since I doubt the doormen are paying attention at the door and looking out for trouble, I presume you mean the barmen. Unless you mean that you could go in every weekend until the event have one drink and then leave to insure yourself a "membership". Maybe I m being rather analytical but it seems to not have been explained well thats all. I m just searching for a clearer explaination thats all.

yumla isnt very big and since their events are all free entry. they really rely on bar sales

I m not bothered either way I was just trying to understand what the guy meant. If it depend on bar sales, a packed house would be far better, specially since I doubt there would be any hardcore drinkers to drink the bar dry. But I do also understand the logic behind giving a better time to their members (But it seems to me, they are more locals (and I dont mean them being from Hong Kong Context) than members).

actually im pretty sure that the people at yumla drink a lot more than the usual people you see around other clubs. or the club wouldn't be putting out free events after free events anyway.

ASOT wrote:that all depends on where everyone is. In clubs then yes people do dance a lot. Big venues such as HITEC they dont as much but thats for other reasons lol :smt002
besides, its a different crowd in clubs and in hitec anyway. in hitec... im constantly put off by the zombies who just stand there :smt015 bad vibes......

yeah i know what you mean. One of my friends who just came back from Washington met Armin in a club and mentioned he was from Hong Kong and Armin said, and i quote "i hate that place". Reason why ? coz when he was there, apart from a few of us, he was the only one dancing. Everyone was in a zombie state just standing at the fron ttrying to stay on thier feet. People need ot give dj's a bit more respect epecially when they fly all the way over here to play for few hours only. Another example of a lack of respect would be the incident at the Breakbeat Boutique where someone threw a bottle of water at lee coombs while he was djing, and nearly made him stop halfway through

It was meat katie who got hit. He just grit his teeth and carried on.
What we need is a venue that fits 1,000 in a club environment, with plenty of decoration and visiauls to keep people entertained and a lazer.
More entertainment besides the music makes people wake up more. Also promoters could hire a group of dance floor fluffers, to get the place going.
Zouk has a good methodology, get student events going early in the evening and cheap entry and drinks, then the general public come in, people have been drinking early and are more up for it.
This venue would have to be in central for people to venue hop in.
The current close to 1000 pax venue in the central area have labelled them too exclusive and members only. This makes them loose the tourist market and prevents people trying to get in.
A place for all for 1,000 people on different levels and areas with an attractive decor is missing and is something that will work.
Investors please get in touch.
