Six time Grammy-Award-winner, named by 2005 Time Magazine as top 100 most influential people, Hip Hop producer-singer- songwriter Kanye West is going to make his one & only Asian stop in Hong Kong, on November 28, 2006. Taking place at a brand new outdoor venue in West Kowloon－‘Hong Kong Drive-In’, Hennessy V.S.O.P Kanye West ‘Touch the Sky Tour’ Live in Hong Kong will be opened by local hip-hop-maniac Edison Chen, and backed by a string-orchestra.

A press conference is hosted today at Grand Hyatt Hong Kong to officially announce the tour with organizer East Asia Entertainment and CLOT/Big Nuts Productions. Opening Artiste Mr. Edison Chen, organizers Mr. Paul Liu, East Asia Entertainment and Mr. Kevin Poon, CLOT/Big Nuts, Title sponsor Mr. Boris de Vroomen, Riche Monde Limited (Hennessy V.S.O.P), Mr. John McLellen of HK Outdoor Drive-In, Universal Music Ltd., Grand Hyatt Hong Kong, Star TV and CR2 all attended to kick start the ticket sales of Kanye West first and only Asian stop!
Kevin Poon of Clot, the Organizer, on behalf of Kanye West, said “He’s excited; no other artist with a similar background from his has done a show in Hong Kong. This is very big for him.” Just back to New York from Europe, Kanye West is thrilled about his first Asia stop in Hong Kong. Meeting with new friends in different cultures always brings new stimulations & inspiration to him. “He is certainly looking forward to come to Hong Kong,”  Paul Liu, East Asia Entertainment said, ‘as Organizer, it’s good to see more and more international singers to come here. In the past we mostly have pop-music artists, with Kanye West, a world-class hip hop icon, we will be able bring something different to the audience of Hong Kong!”

John McLellen of the brand new outdoor venue “HK Outdoor Drive-In” is very excited about “launching” the venue with such an international-acclaimed hip hop artist.  Given not enough venue and space for hosting mega events in Hong Kong, McLellen hopes that by assigning this 200,000 square footage space, more super events could take place in Hong Kong.

Being a hip hop pioneer, Edison is of course thrilled to have the opportunity to cooperate and be the opening artist for Kanye West, the 6-grammy-award winner. He certainly hopes to have collaboration with Kanye in the near future!
