Andrew Phelan & Origami - Dusted Roots Vol. 1 + 2 - Out Now!

Dusted Roots Vol. 1 + 2 are the first EPs from San Francisco?s Andrew Phelan & Origami, pressed years ago in extremely limited quantities. These releases have been remastered for the official relaunch and digital distribution of the series on Prismatic Tracks, receiving support across the board from the likes of iDJ, Radio 1, Ministry of Sound Radio, Jay-J, Funk D?Void, Mazi, DJ Heather, Colette, Laurent Garnier and Inland Knights to name but a few. Representing a departure from the traditional style of Prismatic, Dusted Roots tracks draw heavily on a classic, trackier, more sample based sound.

Since the release of the Dusted Roots series, Andrew Phelan & Origami have quickly made a name for themselves in the international house community with their mix of funk and tech based sounds built around a variety of live instrumentation and vocals. The duo have releases out and upcoming on Amenti, Body Rhythm, Bounce House, Chillin, Drop Music, Dusted Roots, Eight-Tracks, Fizzin', Lingo, Monsta, Olive, Onethirty, Prismatic, So Sound and Yerba Buena Discos. Their work can be heard in collaborations with various musicians and vocalists such as Sen-Sei, Brown, and Audio Angel, as well as with Cubik and Shawn Allen, who are known together with Andrew Phelan & Origami as The Fingermonsters.

Vol. 2 iDJ Magazine Review: ?The other two tracks are by no means bad, but ?It All Goes Down? is so darned good it?s worth getting the EP for that alone. Two parts ?Energy Flash? to one part heavy Chicago jack, it?s deep house at its darkest, most strobe intensive and some (me) would say very best. Awesome.? - JT

DJ Support: Jay-J, Funk D?Void, Mazi, DJ Heather, Colette, Laurent Garnier, Inland Knights, Demarkus Lewis, Miles Maeda, Da Sunlounge, The Littlemen, Q-Burns Abstract Message, Joshua Heath, Jay West, Sleazy McQueen, Atnarko, Sonny Lopez, Sean Dimitire, Funky Transport, Rick Preston, Murray Richardson, Pete Dafeet, Manuel Sahagun, Ken Christensen, Leon Louder, Eddie Leader.

Volume 1 Notable Quotables:

Mazi ?Want Cha brings a smile to my face. I wish there was more music like this and less of everything else. This is so raw it reminds me of when people actually did things their own way and everybody didn't sound the same. Ace!?
Q-Burns Abstract Message ?Great tracks as usual from APO ... New Jacks Revenge works the best for my floor with its popping bass and nice hooks. Want Cha is superb deepness that should work for more initmate sets. Cheers for it!?
Da Sunlounge ?New jacks revenge will be a fun track to throw at the floor for some peak time fun...?
Atnarko ?want cha is the one for me ! Great groovey funk !?
Joshua Heath ?these were jams then, and Im stoked to have them remastered for digi! will def be givin em both a spin in different sets.. cheers guys!?
Sean Dimitire ?I like Want Cha it's deep and dreamy.?
Funky Transport ?So very cheeky. So very good. both will have use for me. full support.?
Pete Dafeet ?Nice package. Can never get enough of Disco Revenge, but Want Cha is my fave - nice melodic grooves?
Miles Maeda ?I like the intention of this release. I lean towards 'want cha' because it's more understated. It's a versitile release which i'm sure will do well.?
Ken Christensen ?I like Want Cha, and of course the New Jacks Revenge is a guilty pleasure just because the original disco track that sneak made apparent to the world in big bud, is a nice memory. The Want Cha track is cool, nice sounds, some nice music elements in there to keep my interest all the way through without sounding redundant or over repetative.?
Demarkus Lewis ?Nice .. Great energy in these.. gonna gonna slide these in where they fit in!!!?

Volume 2 Notable Quotables:

Q-Burns Abstract Message ?Partial to "Get Down" as the "Open Sesame" track it samples is one of my favorites. Weaves the samples in and out quite well, and I like how it all comes together. Should ignite some dancefloors. Cheers for it.?
Funk D?Void ?Loving Chemical!!!?
Da Sunlounge ?Nice ep, I like Get down wit da jiggy and chemical. (nice bass on Chemical)?
Rick Preston ?that's some funky sh*t right there!?
Atnarko ?Chemical for me! really nice deep biber!?
Joshua Heath "Love these classics comin back man.. I love the rework of the genie, proper sh*t there.. Also really dig chemical, really nice vibe, different and fresh.?
Eddie Leader ?Get Down Wit Da Jiggy reminds me of late 90's vibe 7am tracks which is a good thing, nice bass line with a familiar vocal.?
