I live in Shenzhen now and I'm planning to go. Maybe we can meet up before hand.

sounds gd Isobel, I realy don't know anything about the club scene in Shen Zhen since I only have my father here...he just kept telling me about Karaoke bars where you can order girls hahah.....

I wonder how the clubbing vibe is in Shen Zhen..is it more go to get drunk, go to pick up, or go for the music? It just isnt as fun if most of the people aren't there for the music...

But with that logic, I would never go out in HK then...

I just got here several weeks ago so I'm a newcomer :-)
I've been to U Bar 3 times on a Saturday which is in Luo Hu and had a great time 2 times and a so so time once. I've heard hip hop, dancehall and clubby dance music there and for the most part, I liked the crowd. People were drinking for sure but there was a lot of dancing going on and generally people seemed to be in good spirits. I'm a female and had some good chats with people which didn't have a meat market vibe to it.
I went to V Bar once on a Saturday and had a horrible time. It's in Nanshan near a fancy hotel so the music and drink prices cater to that crowd which is not my scene. Still, people were dancing there and seemed to have a good time but there were also some drunken fights too.
I went to Michelle's in Luo Hu which I heard was the unofficial gay/lesbian place. I went on a Thursday night where drinks are free for ladies before midnight. I left after the free drinks because it was a work night and I wasn't having that much fun. It's not really a good place for dancing as the dance floor is really small and it is in between the bar, exit and where most of the tables are so lots of people traffic. There were some cute people dancing on the bar though :-) The music ranged from NWA to Kylie Minogue which for me, is a fun range of music to drink to but not for dancing.
So far, I'm enjoying the vibe in Shenzhen and I'm keeping my eyes and ears open for new places to scope out.
I heard the Yellow Music Studio has a small dance floor and I'm sure the place will be packed when Lisa Lashes is there but I'm going to try my luck anyway unless I hear of something better happening.
