Your Ideal/ Dream Club

Postby DirtyDub » 09-07-2002 11:51 PM

If somebody came up and said "right here's billions and billions of $'s, go away and construct your ideal night club"

How would you have it? I'm talking about everything from decor, to djs, venue, the particular night you would hold on, basically anything or anyway you'd like your club to be let us all know

i know it's been done already. . .but a church! a big **** cathedral, w/ stained glass windows that projects beautiful colors and twisted imagery when the afterhours sunshine hits. the dj booth is located exaclty where the pulpit/altar would've been, so that when you enter this club, huge wooden church doors swing open to show the dj right in the line of vision right in front of you. . . .a rooftop deck/floor featuring downtempo tunes while you view the rest of the city. . ..oh! and it must have a bell tower to announce when "church" is in session. :)

who would you select as your 4 rotating resident djs?

Dream niteclub!

Postby FUNny-HK » 07-08-2002 12:31 PM

Sup all!

Man oh man.. a dream niteclub in HK would have to be: a place playing Trip-hop/ambient music in one room (w/ lots of couches and no need for reservations - doesn't have to be big.. say fits 70 people seated and a little dance floor), and another room playing hip-hop/jungle with a large dance floor, no seats just a big long bar, and a little breaking arena for breakers, pop-lockers and anyone whose got some wicked dance steps (no alcohol allowed in that area so that the floor would be clean and well lit).

That would be my ideal! Ooooh and have some decent resdient DJ's who are always on the look out for top vinyls. Maybe once a month have some out of towner's come in an have an event! .. mmmm thinkin' bout some ninjatunes!

* and alcohol.. whatever.. only friendly people allowed in this club! Ohh and a few hotties as well! 8O

Check out Zouk in Singapore. Thats my dream club!

The place is huge, theres Wine bar, Phuture (D&B), Zouk (Progressive/ House), Velvet (House), a snack bar and a large outdoor area. Miss that place.

Less is more

Postby kodi_68 » 15-08-2002 08:20 PM

One thing I've found is that less is usually more when it comes to clubs. I've been to so many places that have 10 rooms, 60 bars, 100 bouncers and a partridge in a pear tree.

I'd want the place to have an indoor area and an outdoor area (though not in Hong Kong...LA would be more my style). High ceilings with cool art work on the walls are a must. Maybe have some themes that rotate out once a month (constantly rotating is gimmicky).

The DJ booth could be moved to any number of locations and the DJ can decide where they'd like to spin.

The outsides of the dance floor would have couches and hammock like seats. I'd want a "back room" that serves as the VIP room because I'm silly like that (mainly for me and my friends). Maybe room for like 50 people. Depending on the night, there'd be a DJ, but I think it'd be cooler to have decks and equipment, CDs and albums available for people to put on themselves. Could be jazz, could be classical, could be jungle, up to the crowd.

The outside area has to have a pool, lotsa plants that serve as 'dividers' for the couches and of course the music is chill.

I'd want to be next to a nice hotel or someplace that I could partner with to have food delivered in the morning.

Music is varied, but mostly progressive stuff on Fridays, and deeper more soulfoul house on Saturdays. I'd like to have some open table nights, but only after auditioning, trying to give newer DJs with talent a chance. Mostly during the week the place is more like a chilled out bar with chill music inside and out. Once a month I'd import a couple DJs from elsewhere, but mostly up and coming types, I rarely see too many "world-class" DJs that are worth the hype.

Personally I find that the most memorable nights I've had weren't at big events I paid alot of money for, or the most popular clubs in the world. It's always at some kicked back place with people that love to dance, good music and a nice atmosphere (and no kiddies).

A dream club - so subjective..

Anyways, we need three arenas -
1. The chmpagne lounge : a room with descent prices on bubbly . nice comfy bar stools, and St German or Groove Armada style music in the background.

2. The chillout room : Asian style , comfy and fat cushions with back rests arranged on the floor. Very dimmed ceiling lgihts , and each booth / seating area is candle lit. And, this lil chillout room offers sheesha pipes and the audio 's gotta be landscape-ambient style, like the sounds of SaikoSound's DJ Wabi !

3. The main arean! The walls have to be draped with UV colour sensitive curtains, and the seating area has velvet cushioned furniture.
The dancefllor is fully equipped with bassblowin speakers, laser lights hitting the center from four sides, smoke machines puffing from the floor sides, and a DJ booth elevated above in front. In the early hours, the music's gonna be garage / 2 Step and house (not commercial), similar to the sounds of Djs such as the Atrtful Dodger, Dj luck, Angel Moraes, Roger Sanchez, Agent Sumo, Bassment Jaxx and so on, and in the very late hours, the crowd should expect sounds of Satoshi Tomiie, Deep Dish, John Creamer, Dirty Vegas, Lee Burridge, and Jimmy van M to cool the night off!
Every weekend will have live dancers and other entertaining artists that collaborate with the music.

BTW - Uk hard house is strictly prohibited in this club.

And yes, if i had the cash, i would buld up a venue like this -
