Havana Bar and Grill, located on Elgin Street in the heart of Soho, recreates the mambo-dancing, cocktail-sipping untroubled days of Cuba and the Caribbean. As part of our Caribbean cooking series, Havana will take inspiration from the spice-garden island of Jamaica.

“Jerk” is a traditional Jamaican way seasoning grilled foods with various spices and the Jamaicans have perfected the art of “Jerking”.  The spices that are used in Jerk are; chili pepper, allspice, thyme, cinnamon, ginger and cloves. These spices, along with garlic and onions are used to marinate the meat or fish for an exact period of time. When the marinade has added just the right flavor, the meat or fish is then cooked on a smoking grill. This is where the BIG Jerk flavors explode in a taste experience that can only be described as sensational.

During the entire month of April, you can visit Havana and experience our “BIG Jerk” promotion, where you will find five wonderfully prepared Jamaican Jerked dishes that represent the art of Jerk.

Jerk Swordfish with Pineapple and Red Onion

With crisp mange tout in chipolte butter  ($175)

Jerk pork tenderloin with Pumpkin farce

Served with sweet potatoes mash and sautéed vegetables ($165)

Jerk Lamb Rack with Mango Rum Sauce

Served with grilled yams and pumpkin and chayote mash ($165)

Jerk Shrimp and Scallop Kebabs

Served with Caribbean rice and tropical fruit salsa ($145)

To complement these wonderful dishes, Havana will also showcase a selection of Carribean cocktails - Captain’s Siren Island, Spice Martini, Jamaican Me Crazy and Cape Sunrise.  Of course the Havana Mojito is always the most popular.

Havana is located at 35 Elgin Street, Soho, Central, Hong Kong.

With spring in full swing, Café Siam will continue to serve true, authentic Thai food with the creation of ‘Cooking with Flower Promotion’ in this beautiful season.  The normal temperature in Thailand all year is about 25-30C and enjoy glorious sunshine throughout the year.

In Thailand, flowers impinge people in a variety of ways.  Not only do Thai people enjoy the look of blossoms, they have also created dishes to incorporate them.  A number of flowers are used as cooking ingredients. They may be fried, boiled, steamed, stewed, battered, baked, grilled, pickled, or they may simply be eaten raw. It is remarkable how Thais have found so many ways of cooking flowers.

For the whole month of April, Executive Chef, Ah Boa will compile a special menu using classic Thai recipes with innovative thinking to incorporate flowers into tasty cuisines.  The special dishes coming up include :

Crispy Rose Petal with Sweet Plum Dipping Sauce

Coconut Milk Soup with Chicken and Cowslip Petal

Seafood Salad with Chrysanthemums Petal and Lime Dressing

Stir Fried Beef Fillet with Garlic and Thai Orchid

Lavender Coconut Cream
