The best spots in town to start off your night.
El Loco Gringo
With a combination of its delicious Chilean sea bass tacos, lots of margaritas and cerveza, Castelo Concepts’ taqueria is (in)famous for its rowdy nights, and on Fridays and Saturdays a live DJ spins during dinner. Want to take it up a notch? Stay a little later on these nights, and a designated tequila chair opens up after dinner (usually around 10pm) where they pour free shots into said chair-sitter’s mouth. Also: The grilled corn is possibly the best thing on that menu. Order it.

Lily & Bloom
Tossed in a wheel of parmigiano and lit on fire with a dash of cognac, the theatrical and ridiculously good lobster mac & cheese is a must-order here that goes without saying. But hey, as if you didn’t already know, turns out this Central stalwart is known for its great music and vibe too. It’s current happy hour starts at $50HKD for the first drink, then $25HKD, the $5HKD before restarting at the top. Order your cocktails in threes, and get the night going strong.

This K-Town fusion joint serves up funky revisions of sushi rolls, tacos, satay sticks and a great list of cocktails. The best thing, though, is the swing attached to the ceiling, where people can swing over the diners. With a live DJ playing throughout the night, it can get pretty wild...

While it may take newcomers a bit of time to find this late night joint hidden in an alleyway, Brickhouse is one of the best loved taquerias in town serving delicious Mexican fare well into the wee hours of the morning. And to go with that is a broad list of creative cocktails, such as the beloved Diabla cocktail, which brings together raspberries and jalapenos for one fiery and fruity drink.

Le Bistro Winebeast
Great wines, check. Warm hospitality, check. Good time, pretty much guaranteed. With a seasonally changing menu showcasing the best of French cooking—especially with its perfectly executed beef tartare dish, Le Bistro Winebeast is a strong favourite of ours at hkclubbing.com, of staff members past and present.

With a sweet happy hour deal (from $48 for cocktails), and juicy cuts of meat and fish chargrilled in Asador-style traditional Spanish grills, The Optimist will have you wining and dining late into the night. It’s also great for large groups, so consider it for your next get-together with friends.

When you’re craving cheesy, Italian American comfort food, who can resist huge slices of pizza and great pastas with beer? But of all the sinfully good offerings on Linguini Fini’s menu, none is as hard to beat as its weekday happy hour (5-7pm), which gives you free flow PBR beer and all you can eat wings and fries for just $98HKD per person. We hope you have a gym membership...

For a satisfying trifecta of steak + frites + wine, La Vache is the ultimate place. Just make sure to reserve in advance for tables of 5 or more, or show up early, so you can get your spot. But even if you’re sat outside waiting for a table, the staff at La Vache will take good care of you and fill your glass and ply you with hot, fresh fries so you can start the night regardless…

Sushi nights are probably in your weekly arsenal already, but for an unconventional experience of modern Japanese fare, you’ll want to head to Okra’s upstairs sushi bar, which offers an omakase (“up to you, chef”) experience for both $800HKD or $1,600HKD menus. An additional $600HKD gets you pairings with sake and natural wines. Downstairs, it’s an izakaya vibe with small bites and larger plates to share, plus a recently launched happy hour Sake Flight deal (Mon-Sat, 6-8pm) for those who prefer a light bite before a meal elsewhere. You can sample three sakes from a particular brewery to learn more about its story ($210HKD and up), which is accompanied by some of Okra’s signature snack dishes.

If a happy belly filled with wallet-friendly food and drink is the secret recipe to a good night out, Tequila Jack’s was one of the earlier proponents of this formula. TJ’s famed $10 Taco Tuesday nights still stand, so order a ton and wash it down with a large selection of margaritas and Mexican beers.
