We don't condone smoking, but the water pipe (it could be milk pipe, juice pipe or even vodka pipe) definitely adds an element of fun to any chill night outs. Shisha (or Hookah) bars aren't a new thing but they might be a bit hard to find, as they all seem to be hidden in some corners or buildings... So we've decided to finally share our secret list of HK's best Shisha spots for your reference & bucket list!
Central
You might have heard of their enormous shark tanks that line their walls, but we are more attracted to their outdoor area, where you can overlook the entire night view of central and Sheung Wan (look down if you are brave enough, you will get to see a bit of the LKF scene!) They have just added a total number of 15 flavours to their Shisha menu – We recommend the Lemon Mint and the Fruit Bowls!

BOBA BEAR (photographed above)
Even though they don’t take reservations and always keeps a line outside their doors, we promise you this one is worth the wait. Boba Bear serves more than 30 kinds of flavours and they use natural coconut charcoal that last longer... Up to 3 hours! Also don't miss their VLT (or vodka lemon tea) that's sure to hit home for 'Kongers. P.S. Their second store is opening in Causeway Bay this September!

Walk all the way up from Soho, then you will find this hidden paradise. Apart from their fine Lebanese cuisine at dinner time, we also find the night scene in Sumac equally appealing. You can spend an entire night here starting from dinner, followed by a drink or two after, then move to their bar next to the restaurant for Shisha, and more intense shots to finish up the night!

On nights where you just can't be bothered to wait, why not just go across the street from Boba and go to The Tavern instead? A regular pub on the outside, they have much to offer, like fantastic happy hour deals ($20 drinks!!) and Shisha ready to kick start your night.

One of the very few bars that started to serve Shisha way back when – Al Pasha led the trends with live Belly Dance and DJ performing every night. They are famous for their milk-based Shisha and fruit tea that comes in pots (we love their appletea!) They have minimum charge before 10pm on weekends – unless you are planning to go all in with your friends, we suggest you to go later!

Ever wondered how it feels like to have Korean cuisine along with Shisha? Maru is a new fusion Korean restaurant in the centre of TST, with an outdoor area for Shisha and drinks. After filling up yourself with some Bulgogi, Japchae, and Bibimbap, don’t forget to try their Soju cocktails that come in jugs! (We are digging the Raspberry and Apple with Lemon...)

If you enjoy feeling the weekend party vibes with the crowd, Merhaba might be the bar for you. Located right on Knutsford Terrace, Merhaba is one of the busiest bars on the street. They have limited tables outside the restaurant for Shisha, so we recommend you to have dinner inside the restaurant first and ask them to move you outside for Shisha and drinks once it is available, it gets crazily packed on weekends!

Not only is it a gorgeous open-air lounge, they also use whole fresh fruits on your Shisha for an even smoother and sweeter sensation.
