Haven’t been to Black Sheep Restaurants’ Buenos Aires Polo Club yet? Now there’s ever more the reason to make an appearance. Situated in LKF Tower, the elegant Argentinian steakhouse, fashioned after the members-only clubs frequented by moneyed elite in the capital’s Recoleta neighbourhood, is all about delicious grilled meats, an exquisite wine collection, and a dining experience in a handsome, country club setting, and recently, it’s bringing its cocktail expertise into the spotlight. Let’s take a closer look at that drinks list.
The décor is rustic, masculine, yet very elegant, with dark wood paneled walls, shiny leather seats, and an impeccably dressed staff. The bar is on the left side as you enter, with a doorway facing you, leading to the main dining room, and to the right, comfortable low lounge seating, lit by oil lamps.
From an expansive collection of premium spirits from around the world, you can expect equally premium pours and cocktails alike.
If you’ve ever needed to reassert your manliness with one hell of a drink, signatures include the bar’s piece de resistance, the Mi Gran Cigarro ($188HKD), which comes with all the theatrics: Made with whiskey, cognac, and a cigar, the drink is set on fire for optimum smokiness, and it’s balanced out with the rich, sweet flavours of coffee, vanilla, and tobacco.
There’s of course, also timeless classics with the bar’s ever so slight twists. The Polo Cup ($168HKD) is a take on the Pimm’s Cup using ginger and champagne. There’s also the Hanky Panky ($168HKD), famously invented at the Savoy Hotel in 1903. There’s also Dark & Stormy ($138HKD) on the list, using ginger and Falernum, a sweet Caribbean syrup... but would you really want to spend $138HKD on a Dark & Stormy?
If you’ve decided BA Polo Club is going to be your go-to bar from now on, you can also invest in a personal bottle kept behind the bar. For a refined place to bring your friends and drink from your own personal stash of Patron Silver Blanco Tequila ($2,888HKD)? If you have the funds, why not?
