Gourmet pizzeria extends opening hours for soccer championship
PizzaExpress’ Soho and TST locations are being swept-up in World Cup fever, extending their opening hours until 3am at their Lyndhurst Terrance and Ashley Road pizzerias.
Bleary-eyed football fans following the epic finals in Germany can order food & beverages until 2.30am on match days and customers ordering delivery/takeaway after 8pm will also receive a complimentary Carlsberg beer to take home for the game!
Wall charts of match schedules of live televised games in Hong Kong are being prominently displayed to keep customers up-to-date with the progress of the 32 countries in the finals, which kick-off in earnest with the Germany-Costa Rica clash at midnight on June 16th. The championships continue until July 11, 2006.
Flyers of the schedules, including PizzaExpress menus, are also being distributed to customers.
PizzaExpress operates four successful locations in Hong Kong: Central, Taikoo Shing, Wan Chai and Tsim Sha Tsui. The traditional, Italian gourmet pizza chain currently operates in thirteen countries around the globe with over 400 locations world-wide.
Newest additions to the chain include China, with their recent PizzaExpress open in Shanghai.
PizzaExpress has built its fast-growing reputation on serving authentic Italian pizzas – according to the mission of founder Peter Boizot OBE, who tasted his first pizza in Florence and was inspired to “bring the spirit of Italian pizza to the world”.
With specially-trained pizzaiolo pizza chefs, traditional pizza ovens, authentic ingredients including sauce made from hand-picked ‘Roma’ style San Marzeno plum tomatoes, and traditional rather than “fusion” recipes, Hong Kong’s PizzaExpress remains true to its Italian roots.
PizzaExpress believes in giving something back to the communities it serves, with a ground-breaking Schools Programme that turns the restaurants into classrooms and shows children how to make the best Italian pizza and what it takes to run a restaurant.
The philosophy extends to pizza-making birthday parties for children, with PizzaExpress organising invitations, food, birthday cakes and balloons through to clowns, magicians and face painters.
Also close to the company’s heart are fundraising programmes -- including the Matilda Sedan Chair Charities Fund -- that distribute donations to needy local charities and the Chi Heng Foundation that raises money for the education of orphaned children in China.
