“The addition of 50 and Coldplay to the line up of performers solidifies the 2005 VMAs as the ultimate combination of hip-hop, rock, and pop on the planet,” said Christina Norman, President, MTV.  “This year’s VMAs will have more music and more performances then ever before.”

It was also announced today that the 2005 VMAs will include appearances by some of the biggest names from the worlds of music, movies and television including Jessica Simpson, Lil Kim, Ricky Martin, Ashlee Simpson, Bow Wow, Eva Longoria, Nelly, Hilary Duff, Joel Madden from Good Charlotte, Ciara, and Alicia Keys, who join previously announced appearances by Usher, Jessica Alba, Orlando Bloom, Kirsten Dunst, Lindsay Lohan, Joss Stone, Jeremy Piven, and Snoop Dogg.  More appearances and performers will be announced in the coming days and weeks leading up to the August 28th event.

After just visiting the UK I found that there is such a big difference in event promotion. Basically in the UK promoters seem to get the information out as much as possible directly to their target market where in Hong Kong some promoters do not even tell anyone except for their friends! Funny as it may seem this is often the case and as most of you know HKClubbing spends every waking moment digging for any shread of event information from promoters that is out there.

Image This weekend Jonty Skrufff will be off to Brazil and after his busy workload writing articles, reviews and interviews, the quality tunes that he recently reviewed will be spun by the man himself.

So if you like the reviews below and you are in Brazil go check out and see what all the fuss is about with this Lond DJ.

ImageThe combination of a DJ with ten years experience (Ernesto van der Meij) and an equally experienced producer (Edwin Koelewijn) resulted in 2001 in Ernesto vs Bastian. Now, thanks to their hit record ‘Dark side of the Moon’ big things are happening for the Dutch trance duo.

Creamfields is famous for many things predominantly being the UK's favourite and biggest dance festival and for putting together some of the most exciting and diverse festival line ups in the country.  However it's also known for having the most unique and best looking people at it!  So much so that Models 1 (Europe's largest and longest running model agency) have decided to pay a visit to this years festival and scout for some new faces!  The New faces department at Models 1 is always looking for young people with the right looks and, equally important, the right personality.   And what better place to scout than at Creamfields!

Models 1 has grown to be one of the top and most respected agencies in the world with a reputation for discovering and building the international careers of boys and girls who achieve international fame, like Yasmin Le Bon, Linda Evangelista, and Karen Elson. As well as male talent from the likes of Will Chalker and Andrew Cooper.  All of which have worked with clients around the world to become the faces of brands from Prada to Dior, from Gap to Next.  They have graced the covers of virtually every magazine, both in the UK and around the world, from Vogue in Italy and Japan, to Elle in Paris and New York and, here in the UK, Dazed and Confused to Sugar.   Models 1 is also the official model agency to Top Shop nationwide.

Some of the best models are incredible characters but not necessarily just conventional, classic beauties. A plain face or someone with strong, striking, irregular features can be just as successful as someone who is beautiful, handsome or very pretty.  So if you think you've got what it takes, or if you know someone else who does be at Creamfields at the Old Liverpool Airfield, on Saturday 27th August Bank Holiday weekend, where the Models 1 Scout team will have a stand and be on the look out .   Good luck!

ImageToday London, UK was attacked by Terrorist bombings on the London Underground and the bus services. So far there have been over 50 deaths reported and this figure is likely to rise.

From Hong Kong the BBC website was inaccessible due to the high demand of people checking for information during the last hour of work on Thursday.

Our sympathies go out to all of those affected. Would all of our writers who we have not been able to reach in London please get in touch to confirm that you are safe as soon as possible.

Glastonbury well and truly kicked off the festival season last weekend, despite a muddy start the sun eventually shone with Mr Eavis himself tipping this years festival as the best yet!  For those who didn’t see the awesome set from Basement Jaxx, they were without doubt one of the highlights of the show.  The Jaxx were initially invited as special guests of Kylies, however having been diagnosed with Cancer and her having to pull out of the show the duo where invited to play the coveted closing set on the Pyramid Stage and as a mark of respect they covered her anthem ‘Cant Get You Out Of My Head’.

If their Glasto performance was anything to go by, Creamfields is in for a real treat as they perform the headline slot on the main stage at this year’s festival.  Creamfields 2005 is looking set to be the fastest selling festival to date and already a massive 50% up on ticket sales!  The Jaxx will be joined by another Glastonbury favourite Faithless to name but a few

ImageThis September Steve Helstrip will release the first Thrillseekers DJ mix compilation album.

‘The DJ’, CD 1 of ‘Night Music’, will bring together the most upfront selection of dancefloor monsters. Presenting an accurate picture of Steve’s diverse, imaginative musical tastes.

The second CD titled ‘The Producer’ will feature a (much requested) anthology of The Thrillseekers remix work, brought together for the first time on one disc.

ImageWith Kiev lying more than 300 miles from the nearest seaside beach on the Black Sea, new Ibiza references might seem over the top, though if the Opium Beach Club upped sticks to Salinas or any of the other famous Ibiza strips, it would instantly be acclaimed as the best club in the world.

Because with its massive square dance-floor, semi-open air marquee roof and state of the art sound system, the 2,000 capacity venue is both a clubber’s club and a designer’s dream.

Nestling on the sandy banks of the giant River Dnipro, the superbly laid out club is both open air enough to take advantage of the river’s perfect breeze and permanent enough to have a crystal clear sound system and a massive spacious laser drenched dance floor, with accompanying bar areas and raised wooden mezzanines all around.

Open for just two months every summer, the club plays host to the likes of Christopher Lawrence and Anthony Pappa, though tonight, on what’s billed as an Ibiza night, me. Fortunately, however, I’ve been forewarned that ‘Ibiza’ doesn’t mean cheesy house, and instead I’m under strict orders to play electro- specifically (even better) electro-disco-rock.
