Tell us a little bit about how you got started DJing. Who was your biggest inspiration?
When I was in primary school I was already always really interested in all sorts of music, and back in secondary school I threw a party for my classmates and I booked a local drive-in DJ - that was the moment I decided to become a DJ myself. Besides, my parents always played a lot of electronic (dance) music at home so that really influenced my choice of music too.
Will this be your first time in Macao? Is there anything that you are looking forward to doing or seeing in particular?
It's my first time yes! I'm really looking forward to the show as well as visiting Macao - I've heard it's the Las Vegas of Asia and I always really enjoy myself when I play in the American Las Vegas.
How do you feel that DJing and producing has changed over the last few years?
I'm not in the game for too long so I haven't really experienced how it has changed over the last ten years, but looking at the time in which i have been around I really experienced a change as everything has become so much quicker and more advanced in terms of technology - everyone can be a 'DJ' nowadays but it seems talent and musicality are 100% key factors for people to distinguish themselves nowadays.
What was your favourite memory of 2014 so far and what do you have planned for the rest of the year?
A memorable 20.000 people sitdown in Manila during the Neverland show, or releasing a track together with Afrojack on his recent album. For the rest of the year I still have this Asia tour planned which Cubic club is a part of, and I'm closing the end of the year in my hometown which I'm really looking forward to.
What can we expect from your upcoming performance at Cubic?
A lot of new tracks, a lot of energy and most importantly a great party!
Aside from your DJ equipment, name your top three touring essentials.
My macbook so I can create new music on the road, obviously my phone to stay connected with everyone and my shades, as I can basically sleep anywhere I want to.
What is the weirdest thing that you’ve seen from the DJ booth?
A couple being really intimate on the dancefloor........
Do you have any pre-gig rituals?
Who in your opinion are the best up-and-coming producers at the moment?
Blinders is really doing a great job.
If you weren’t a DJ/Producer what would you be doing?
I'd be in economics I guess.
What tracks/ projects can we look forward to in the upcoming months?
There's a lot of new stuff around that I just recently finished. Collaborations include the likes of Borgeous (Tsunami) and Far East Movement, as well as new material with Afrojack.
What would be your dream collaboration?
Rihanna one day would be great! I love her voice and she's an amazing artist.
