Tell us a little bit about how you got started as a DJ / Producer? Who was your biggest inspiration?

I first got into DJ’ing after seeing DJ Q*Bert play in China while I was living there in high school racing cars.  I was instantly captivated, asked him a ton of questions after his set about how it all worked, and when I got back to the States I bought my first pair of Technic 1200 turntables and the rest was history.

Will this be your first time in Macao?  Is there anything that you are looking forward to doing or seeing in particular?

No it’s not, I actually used to live here in my Teens while I was racing cars professionally.  I’m looking forward to coming back!

How do you feel that DJing and producing has changed over the last few years?

You used to be able to just DJ, but now to make it big, you really need to be able to produce and DJ, it’s a package deal now. People expect you to play lots of your own music every time you perform, it’s almost like being your own band now.

What was your favourite memory of 2014 so far and what do you have planned for the rest of the year?

My set at Ultra Music Festival in Miami was amazing, definitely the best I’ve played thus far.  I’ve got lots coming out throughout the rest of the year including lots of club dates in Asia, Europe, North America, and tons of festivals! And of course I’ll be releasing lots more music!

What can we expect from your upcoming performance at Cubic Macao?

Tons of new tunes and edits, and a very high energy set!

Aside from your DJ equipment, name you top three touring essentials.

Hand sanitizer, ear plugs, and comfy pants for airplanes!

What is the weirdest thing that you’ve seen from the DJ booth?

I don’t even know where to start, I’ve seen a lot of weird stuff!

Do you have any pre gig rituals?

Hot tea, a beer or two, and preparing my set, each night it’s going to be a different one!

Who in your opinion are the best up-and-coming producers at the moment?

There are lots of great ones out there, two in particular that you should keep your eye on are M35 and Whiiite

If you weren’t a DJ/Producer what would you be doing?

I’d be an architect, that’s what I majored in while at University.

What tracks/ projects can we look forward to in the upcoming months?

I’ve got a new track with Bassjackers called “DERP” coming out April 28th on Hysteria, and then a remix for Benny Benassi coming out this summer on Ultra.  Besides those, more new originals!

What would be your dream collaboration?

Tom Petty!
