Always differing your sets in accordance to where you play, what the atmosphere is like and the mood you are in for the night; what can we expect from your upcoming performance in ZoukOut?
I can’t tell you right now, because I can’t know how the atmosphere, the vibe, the audience and my mood are. And since I never played at ZoukOut-Festival before, I will be surprised also, I guess.
Being a DJ, producer and a label owner signing people such as David August; what do you look for in artists specifically and who in your opinion are the best up-and-coming producers / artists at the moment?
I think what we with Diynamic always try to deliver could also be the thing most of the other labels want to do as well: To create Uniqueness and quality.
Music on Diynamic can be anything, any style, from dancefloor stomper to more listening sofa-album, but if it is not unique and with quality it won’t be released. And please allow me not to answer the second part of your question, because there are so many talents out there.
With such varied identities and a belief in “You better do it yourself”; how do you prioritize your work and also being able to achieve so much such as being the boss of 13 artists under Diynamic and winning the best producer award from Ibiza EDM Award last year?
This is a tough question … I don’t know how to answer this actually. I can only say that I do my thing, that I love what I am doing and that I feel really blessed that I can do what I do and the way I want to do it.
As mentioned in previous interviews that the Warung’s 10th birthday and their after party was “close to perfection as it could be” for you; what makes a perfect show for you?
The line-up, the club, the people, the mood, the music, the sound system, the weather, the reason to celebrate … there are so many different things.
What is your current favorite track to play? Is it still Dale Howard’s Bubbzz on Love Not Money?
This is still a great tune but at the moment it’s not in my sets, there are a lot of other new tracks that I am playing.
Will this be your first show in Singapore? Is there anything that you are looking forward to doing or seeing in particular?
I’ve never been to Singapore before in my life. And I don’t know much about it, to be honest, so I am curious and looking forward whatever will happen.
How do you feel that DJing and producing has changed over the last few years?
I don’t travel with my records anymore, I only need an USB-stick, this is quite a big change. Productionwise … I mean everything is permenently changing, the technical progress is constantly on-going, I’m not sure if this is always for good, it depends I guess.
What was your favourite memory so far of 2013 and what would you like to achieve during the rest of the year?
My best memories, beside all the great partys, are the BBQs which we had every Tuesday in Ibiza with all the Diynamic family. Those are really precious memories.
And what do I want to achieve? I mean, the year is almost over, I want to have some relaxed days around Christmas with my family and after BPM festival in Mexico have a long holiday.
Aside from your DJ equipment, name you top three touring essentials.
Eau de parfum
Enough underwear, haha.
Tell us a story from tour that shocked you?
It’s not so easy to shock me, honestly, and if I experienced something really shocking I would not be able to tell it here, sorry.
Do you have any pre gig rituals?
When there’s a dinner before I normally eat fish, because this makes it easier for me to play. But besides that I don’t have any rituals, I’m afraid. Even though I am from the Balkan I seem not to be too supersticious.
If you weren’t a DJ/Producer what would you be doing?
Before I discovered DJing and producing I worked on film as a dolly assistant and had my own very small company, where we produced short films. If I wouldn’t be into music it would be film I guess.
