“Red Mission-GaP Party” on 16 April will be postponed. Please stay tune for further details.
"AIDS" is not an unfamiliar term in our daily lives, but whenever it is mentioned in our conversation, it is not hard to notice that the subject will be swayed away. This is ‘Taboo of Love’.
As much as it is a taboo, one cannot deny that AIDS/HIV has already become a social stigma in the society. To promote awareness and social existence of AIDS/ HIV, an action group ‘紅Mission’ is formed and their aim is to put out a series of events to strengthen the education, understanding and prevention of AIDS/ HIV to all communities. They believe that ‘With LOVE, actions turn into power! Together, we bring out the BEST of life!’ ‘
Homosexuality = AIDS?
For so long, our friends from the Gay community have been suffering in silence and a lot of them are still afraid to face themselves because of the discriminations they face, which, caused paranoia and uncomfort amongst everyone. AIDS/HIV are often misunderstood as a disease linked to gay sexual activities. This is all wrong!
The fact is, anyone and everyone can contract AIDS/HIV without proper precaution actions taken. This virus is transmitted through direct contact of a mucous membrane or the blood stream with a bodily fluid containing HIV such as blood, semen, vaginal fluid, preseminal fluid and breast milk. This transmission can involve anal, vaginal or oral sex, blood transfusion, contaminated hypodermic needles, exchange between mother and baby during pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding or any forms of exchange in bodily fluids.
In the view of this, ‘紅Mission’, Hong Kong Aids Foundation and The Boys’ & Girls’ Clubs Association of Hong Kong, will take on this task of preaching to the society of AIDS concern. Their 1st stop ‘紅Mission: GaP Party’ (Gay Pride Party) to promoted awareness and protection so that chances of contracting HIV Infection will be reduced. We want to spread the message across to the gay community that love knows no boundaries, true love can be found regardless of gender, age, race or religion and no one should be shunned due to a misunderstanding of ignorance. Love should be free but we need to protect ourselves from any harm too.
