First documentary about DJs in HK - “TABLETURNZ” Screens 16th & 17th June.

From an inspiring award-winning movie, A Simple Life, to a recently sought-after Santino, there is something closer to reality that is worth the share of our attention – simply because it makes us hip!

The first ever made documentary short movie focusing on the roots of Cantonese speaking DJs in Hong Kong is completed and ready to present to the public. We know DJ is a profession which is closely associated with music mixing, and it sounds like a cool job than most of the other regular nine-to-fivers. I can’t agree more to the coolness of it. However, most of us may not know what it takes to be or what is behind being a true music wizard. It’s more about continuous attempts with hard work than fame and familiar names.

DJ culture or turntablism, one of the features in the movie, has made a come back these days… due to some familiar names that rise and self-claimed as one. It poses a threat to the DJ veterans and a negative impact to the market and image as well.

Lucky us! Now a movie provides a channel for the interested fellows to clear up the clouds and more importantly, to know what local DJs are, how they prepare their music and what they have been struggling to survive in the non-Chinese dominated profession.

Don’t let this movie pass you or you will miss a 100% local production, an insider’s view on the local DJs. This movie will convince you the Cantonese-speaking DJs are wonderfully talented and have no fear to pull funky stunts just as you would imagine!
