Jerome Sydenham (Ibadan, US)
Friday 5 August 2005 at Zouk
Following the success of Dennis Ferrer’s set back in July, we present to you the other half of the “Sandcastles” hit making duo – Jerome Sydenham. From his early years in the mid 80s as DJ and promoter in Philadelphia and New York, Jerome went on to hone his talents at A&R for major labels like Atlantic Records and East West, lending his touch to artists like En Vogue, Simply Red and breaking dance acts like Murk and Ten City into the mainstream. By ’95, Jerome started the Ibadan imprint as an outlet for his own creativity. With “Sandcastles” reaching new heights of popularity – Jeff Mills, Joe Claussell and Sasha all showing support, Jerome’s current “Pan-African Electro” fusion of Detroit techno, early Chicago house and afro-rhythms, is certainly reshaping the landscape of dance music.

Dimitri's father has just passed away due to stomach cancer, so Dimitri has cut short his Asian tour and will not be able to make it here (Zouk, Singapore) this Friday. In his place, resident djB will be playing a We Luv House special.

ImageSingapore…WOMAD (World of Music, Arts & Dance), one of the world’s premier music festivals, returns to Singapore during the 26th to 28th of August for the eighth consecutive year. This three-day festival will present another fantastic line-up featuring outstanding artists from fourteen countries and five continents.

WOMAD presents festivals worldwide, with venues ranging from the beaches of Las Palmas in the Canary Islands, to picturesque historical locations in Sicily and Madrid. Like these, the festival site in Singapore is unique to its destination. Fort Canning Park, a garden in the heart of the City, with its verdant lawns and hillsides, is an atmospheric echo of Singapore itself as the world’s most famous Garden State.

Incorporating Brazilian, Latin & afro-centric beats & rhythms, djB’s forays into a more robust main room house sound has met with great success with this We Luv House night, a milestone in djB’s career. With a string of quality acts over the past weeks to help promote his pursuit for all things house, including the likes of Copyright, Oli Lazarus, Grant Neslon, Barbara Tucker and Dennis Ferrer, Zouk’s Friday house nights just get better. So if you love house, put on those dancing shoes, put a ‘lil soul in your heart, and head down to celebrate it with djB!
