Joining the ranks of superstar DJ Timo Massâs Hope Music, techno-stars Slamâs Soma Records & world-renowned German label Compost Records, Singapore-based artiste agency Stellar Bookings will launch its internet radio show Stellar Music Worldwide on Samurai.fm on 15th November 2004. Stellar Music Worldwide will feature the freshest sounds & mixes from Stellar Bookingâs international artist roster, as well as top talents from Asia.
Based in Tokyo, Samurai.fm is regarded widely in the global electronic music industry as one of the worldâs most cutting edge internet radio platform. With 24 hours of new shows every week, cooked up by the artists themselves or recorded at live events, Samurai.fm features sets and shows unheard of anywhere else in the world. Speaking the language of rhythm and breaking down borders & cultural barriers between countries, Stellar Music Worldwide is proud to be part of this musical revolution.
Mr. Kelvin Lee, Bookings & Music Manager at Stellar Bookings, says, âBroadband internet penetration has increased dramatically throughout the world in the last 12 months, and we feel that this is the perfect time to launch the show in time with the inauguration of our bookings arm (Stellar Bookings). Stellar Music Worldwide is not only an important online marketing tool to promote our agency and all our artists; but importantly allows us also to initiate and foster closer links with our Japanese counterparts as well as all the other clubs and promoters we work with in the Asian region.â
Kelvin Lee was previously with The Centro360 Group; and GarageSaleShop.com, an online electronic dance web-zine and event-promoter startup. Some of the recent high-profiled projects he worked on included the Ministry of Sound NYE 2004 party at Singapore Expo, DJ Paul Van Dyk at the Powerhouse and Pepsi Xâs âParty X-Tremeâ 24-hour launch party at Centro360.
On rising Asian talents, he also added, âThey are the key to the future of Asiaâs electronic dance music scene. Itâs not always about the big boys. One of the key objectives of Stellar Music Worldwide is also about encouraging & promoting the talents of Asian DJs and producers. We aim to provide a basic foundation to them and offer proper representation & management expertise to these rising stars.â
UK-based DJ Barry Gilbey, a leader of the underground progressive house scene, is confirmed to kick off the show with an exclusive mix recorded in early October. His vocal projects with Sara Whittaker-Gilbey as Mara have been huge smashes in the last 5 years. Other productions with BT, Anthony Pappa, Bill Hamel and The Brothers in Rhythmâs Alan Bremner also mean that Barryâs work has been firmly placed in the A-listâs DJ boxes. Barry has performed in Tokyo, Taipei, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore in 2004, and is expected to return to this part of the world in spring 2005.
Upcoming artists to be featured on Stellar Music Worldwide will include Singaporeâs rising progressive producer/ DJ For[e]sight of Frontallabs, New-York based DJ/Producer duo Chris & Kai (Yoshitoshi Records), Low End Specialists (UK), Brian Cross (Amnesia Ibiza Trance World Tour), Astro & Glyde (Bedrock), Joachim Garraud (Square Productions/ Paris) and Ricky Stone (Kayestone/ UK). This list is by no means exhaustive â you can definitely expect a few surprises along the way!
