LGB La Mer continues the LGB tradition of purveying fine food and drink, introducing Hong Kong’s first vermuteria, with a curated Vermuts library to accompany the full collection of premium Spanish seafood from the famed Espinaler of Vilassar De Mar, Spain. Inspired by the casual dining lifestyle of the Mediterranean, LGB La Mer provides a modern and cosy environment for diners to enjoy a relaxing conversations together with comforting snacks such as croquetas, montaditos, and hams.
The restaurant is proud to be one of two collaborations with the Tapias family that founded and runs the century old Espinaler, which have opened their first overseas outlet in Tokyo in December 2014. Fish and shellfish are carefully selected by the fishermen in Spain’s Galician coast whereupon it is then carefully treated and packaged. The aging process enhances natural flavors and textures, bringing a completely different product than the standard seafood.
Vermuts (in Spanish) are aromatized wines, often made with a wine base and enhanced with anywhere from 20-150 botanicals, imparting depth and nuance to the drink. In Catalonia, Spain, where the vermuteria trend has taken hold, vermuts and small dishes are enjoyed throughout the day both for refreshment and enjoyment.
