Taverna del Mar was set up by Filipino-Chinese Kimberly Ng with her partner Domenec Lopez Munoz whom she met while living in Barcelona 10 years ago. Chef Domenec used to be the culinary professors of CETT – Centro de Hosteleria y Restauracion Barcelona and he has worked in Brazil and the USA promoting the Spanish culinary. After more than 20 years of experience in cooking and experimenting with different style of fashion recipe. He decided to go back to the basic and helped Ms. Kimberly to setup an unpretentious traditional home style Spanish Tapas and Paella Bar, and therefore Taverna del Mar was born.
The restaurant oozes a casual feel and imitates the fisherman’s village of Domenec’s hometown called Premia del Mar. Owner Kimberly tries to combine local ingredients with own importation of family artisanal Spanish food to offer an affordable menu for her clients. Wine choices are generally from traditional family vintage. Taverna del Mar aims to offer a little piece of Catalunyan Village experience to the neighbourhood of Quarry Bay, Hong Kong.
