The brains behind the ever popular Enoteca Group of Restaurants are building again, this time an Asian infused Gastro-Tavern, aptly named “The Drunken Duck”.
Chef David Tamlyn, who began his career under the tutelage of Marco Pierre White and went on to work at Michelin-starred London restaurants such as Pied à Terre and The Square, is the perfect person to work his magic on a traditional British pub menu heavily imbued with Asian influences. Think “Malay Spiced Pork Pie”, “Thai Scotch Eggs” and “Oxtail and Wasabi Cottage Pie” for an idea of what can be expected. Taking pride of place in the kitchen is a traditional duck roasting oven which will produce the beer steeped “Drunken Ducks” of the name. Sharing is enthusiastically encouraged with a large menu of nibbles, starters, plates and platters all designed to showcase the best of east and west.
A tavern is a place for travelers to gather, eat and drink and is hugely appropriate for Hong Kong’s transient, touristy and expatriate lifestyle. The designer environment of this gastro tavern will give them a home from home. The stripped down interior with exposed columns and piping has been lushly decorated by award winning interior designer, Kinney Chan, who has chosen mosaics, school chairs, church pews and worn leather to create a comfy, shabby chic pub feel.
The drinks list follows typical tavern lines with a comprehensive craft draught and bottled beer selection, designer cocktails and a carefully chosen wine list featuring 10 wines by the glass. Happy hours, bar snacks and after dinner cocktails ensure that the atmosphere is casual and contemporary. In fast-paced Hong Kong ‘The Drunken Duck Tavern’ offers a perfect place to relax, chat and imbibe whilst sharing intriguing and unique food in a delightful setting……..all travelers welcome!!
