They say that what the 90’s lacked in fashion, it made up for in music and we couldn’t agree more.
On August 16 Fresh Off the Boat Asia and Untitled Asia are taking it way back, bringing you hip hop in its essence with turntable master and founder of the legendary Beat Junkies, J Rocc, performing at Hong Kong’s exclusive KEE Club.
J Rocc was a major influence in the instrumental hip hop and turntablism movement in the 90’s and has worked alongside some of hip hop’s heavyweights including J Dilla and has been super producer Madlib’s DJ since the early 2000’s.
If you love hip hop and if you appreciate real skills on the ones and twos, then don some denim on denim, throw on that old windbreaker, put on some flashy prints, overalls and gold chains if you feel the urge and come along – we won’t judge you. It’s all about the music.
What So Not
Meet the newest dynamic duo in music, WHAT SO NOT. Hailing from Sydney, the dream team is one half super producer FLUME and one half DJ EMOH INSTEAD who together are pushing genre boundaries and, in their own words, on a mission to “create the strangest sound possible.”
WHAT SO NOT first made a splash with their mind bending remixes – most notably their mix of Major Lazer’s ‘Get Free’ which caught the attention of EDM heavyweights such as Flosstradamus, Nero and Diplo.
Not to mention their EP “The Quack” is a deliciously grimey serving of trap with a side of hip hop (Action Bronson and Queens’ rapper D Mac make an appearance), funk and FLUME’s signature experimental sound.
It's time to get weird.
