Evil
Nine’s Artist Profile:
Evil Nine have experienced huge success
all over the world, releasing two critically acclaimed albums: ‘You Can
Be Special Too' & 'They Live!', which include collaborations with
the likes of Aesop Rock, EL-P, Autokratz, Juice Aleem, Toastie Taylor
& Emily Breeze. Tom Beaufoy and Pat Pardy first combined skills in
1998 and were quickly identified as a quality DJ/Producer duo by Adam
Freeland who signed them to his Marine Parade label. Since then each of
their releases have Distinguished Evil Nine as innovators who refuse to
blend into the scene. Deriving their musical flaPours from multiple
influences including Post-Punk, Italio Disco, Electro, Classic Power
Ballads, Techno, KrautrRock, YachtRock, Hip-Ho & 80's Electronic
Movie Soundtracks – their sound is original and minimal packed with
emotive ability. Later remixes of NASA, The Temper Trap, Juice Aleem
& Ian Brown are imminent whilst the duo were working on the
materials for release on Marine Parade.
Evil Nine has developed a
reputation amongst both fans and critics as not being afraid to push
the boundaries of what is considered BreakBeat music, and tend to
incorporate a multitude of styles into their DJ sets. An example of this
is the track listing for Fabriclive 28, which includes artists as
diverse as Bodyrockers, Mystery Jets, and The Clash. Same and always so
regular they keep on playing in the BEST and the MOST VARIOUS Nghtclubs
both in the UK and Europe. They have held residencies at Fabric (London)
and Audio (Brighton) and held the position of "SUPER-RESIDENTS" at the
Urban Gorilla, in Sheffield.
