Description

For the first time ever, Taste of Hong Kong presented by HSBC will welcome Australia’s most loved gelateria, Gelato Messina to Hong Kong shores at its four-day culinary festival from March 21st -24th. With mile long lines, the ever-in-demand Gelato brand is equally obsessed with the quality of the gelato and cakes as they are with the origin of the ingredients. So much so that they even have their own dairy farm that supplies them with super creamy jersey milk; arguably the highest quality milk you can get. They don’t just buy the best chocolate they can find, they actually make it themselves using the highest quality single origin Ecuadorian cacao they can get their hands on. Gelato Messina is set to introduce fan favourites of gelato, mini cakes and desserts to Hongkongers at this year’s festival including; Dulce de Leche- Messina’s famous Argentinian caramel flavour, Milk Tea Bomb Alaska– a Taste festival exclusive based on Hong Kong’s famous milk tea, Dr Evil’s Mini Magic Mushroom cake and the iconic PayLOVA Sundae with coconut meringue topped with lychee gelato.

To celebrate this sweet sensation, Taste has teamed up with Virgin Australia to offer four lucky winners free flights to Sydney – two flights will be given away on social media and two will be given away on-site at the festival. To stand a chance to win on social, all you need to do is keep your eyes on Taste’s Instagram and come up with the most creative name for Gelato Messina’s festival exclusive dish while the on-site giveaway details will be announced at a later stage.

For Something More Savoury, Taste will welcome an invigorating line up of premier restaurants, of which 75 per cent are new, including Artemis & Apollo, Bibo x Silencio x The Ocean, Chôm Chôm, Francis, Hoi King Heen, Ichu Peru, John Anthony, Old Bailey, Sausage Commitment and The Flying Elk. Festival favourites Haku, Little Bao, Pici and Zuma will also be back by popular demand. Each participating restaurant will offer a choice of four dishes starting from HK$50 each including at least one Taste Festival Exclusive – never-before-seen on the menus in Hong Kong.

The 2019 edition of Taste will offer a range of new entertainment and attractions for festival great day out. Highlights include The Wolf Theatre – a live on-stage cooking demonstration by renowned Chefs, The Gourmet Market – a chance to sip, sample and shop from different artisan producers and The Sound Stage – the hottest live bands and DJs.

Truly a festival for all the family; children under the age of 12 years old enter for free. Little ones will be entertained by Whizpa, who will be hosting the Kids Zone with exciting culinary and craft activities over the weekend.
